1.3 bn indians in lockdown for 21 days, PM Modi announced

On Tuesday, the prime minister of India, Narendra Modi said that nationwide lockdown will be imposed for the next 21 days starting midnight in a bid to break the coronavirus infection cycle in the country. Reminding people of the importance of social distancing, PM Modi appealed to the masses to stay in their homes.

“It is impossible to estimate the cost that India may have to pay, if such irresponsible behavior continues. For the past two days, many parts of the country have been in lock-down. These initiatives of the state goverments have to be taken very seriously.

Learning from experiences of Health Experts and other countries the nation is going to take a very important decision today, FROM 12:00 tonight the entire country will go under a complete lockdown. To save India and every indian there will be a total ban on venturing out of your homes.”

“If we don’t handle these 21 days well, then our country, your family will go backwards by 21 years,”
“To stop coronavirus, stay at a distance from each other and stay inside your houses,” he said.

The PM dispelled the belief that social distancing should be adopted only by those affected by the virus. “Social distancing is not just for the sick, but for each and every person, including you, your family and even your family.”
